Better for People and animals

Low Stress Livestock Handling has been shown to improve weight gain, conception rate, milk yield, immune function, as well as efficiency, predator protection, safety, animal welfare, and quality of carcass. Gain skills in moving animals quietly and efficiently, with minimal stress to both stock and humans. Whether you are an old hand or just starting out, this course will provide useful new tools and insight.

The first day of this course will focus on providing practical application of various livestock handling techniques with video review of participants. The second day will provide an opportunity to design a livestock handling facility at Uppder Dry Creek Ranch. We will look at an aging corral system and explore ways to improve it to increase ease of use.

Your instructors for this course will be Chris Schachtschneider, OSU Extension, and Dave Voth, Integrated Grazing Management, LLC.

This clinic is a result of participant evaluations from the Roots of Resilience 2019 Grazing Conference which featured Temple Grandin and her colleague, Chris Schachtschneider, OSU.
